No More Room in Hell 2 September 2026 Update Preview
Confirmed Autumn content after Hotfix 1.0.4.0: maps, attachments, and controller polish — not live until numbered notes.
The September 2026 update is the first content delivery Torn Banner named after Armageddon 1.0. It is not in the live client as of August 29, 2026. What you are playing now is Hotfix 1.0.4.0 (the patch that also fulfilled most of the old Hotfix #2 list). Use this page to know what September is supposed to add, what to practice before it lands, and what not to invent in Discord while you wait.
Source of truth is the August 20 developer blog Beyond Armageddon (also on Steam news). A longer systems overview lives on Beyond Armageddon. This page is the SEO-facing September checklist: Lewiston permutations, a new Pottsville scenario, new attachments, and controller/UI work.
What September is confirmed to target
Controller deadzones and menu navigation
September’s quality-of-life block is aimed at pad players: deadzone improvements and UI menu navigation that does not fight the cursor. 1.0.4.0 already restored scoreboard mute, block, and report on controller and stopped Weekly Assignment toasts from eating input. September is the follow-up for stick feel and menu flow, not a second copy of those scoreboard fixes.
If you play on DualSense or Xbox, keep Controller Settings and Controls bookmarked. Recalibrate after the numbered September note — the sensitivity ceiling already moved from 2 to 6 in 1.0.4.0; deadzone changes will stack on top of that.
Lewiston: more objective permutations
Lewiston stays the rural Maine Objective map. September adds additional objective permutations so the Critical POI order and task set vary more between runs. That is variety inside a map you already own, not a tenth location. Drill the current layout on Lewiston Walkthrough and Maps & Objectives so you can tell permutation from patch bug on day one.
Expect callouts to change. A squad that memorizes one generator order will get punished when the permutation flips. Teach roles (carrier, door, horde) rather than a single GPS line.
Pottsville: a new scenario flow
Pottsville gets a brand-new scenario — official language is a new objective flow that “turns the map on its head.” That is stronger than a permutation. Treat it as a second Pottsville contract when it ships. Until then, the live map is still the suburban confinement loop on Pottsville Walkthrough.
Do not invent bunker codes or extract pads for the new flow. Wait for the numbered note, then update this wiki the same day.
New weapon attachments
September adds muzzle modifications and laser sights framed as meaningful gameplay, not locker chrome. That will move Weapon Attachments, Weapons Database, and the Weapons Tier List after stats are public. 1.0.4.0 already rebalanced spread on Gruber 922/MKVII/Ranch, Hunter85, M7, M14, M1911, M9A1, MC15, Model 13, MP5, and Rochester 1873 — learn that live meta first so you can isolate what the new muzzles actually change.
What September is not
- Not Hotfix 2. That shipped as 1.0.4.0 on August 25.
- Not Hell Mode. Hell Mode is a 2026 stretch target on the Beyond Armageddon page, not a September promise.
- Not Responder Retirement or Memorial. Those are later Autumn systems.
- Not a new Survival map. Flooded, Lighthouse, and Night of the Living Dead remain the three arenas.
- Not subtitles. Subtitles are under investigation with no date.
- Not dedicated servers or a public Trello. See Trello & Community and Console Commands.
Objective mode is still waiting on a final respawn before extraction that 1.0.4.0 explicitly parked for “our next update.” That may ride with September or a nearby hotfix — believe the numbered note, not a leak screenshot.
How to prepare this week
- Finish the 2X XP Weekend loop before August 31, 12:00 EDT if you want cheaper skill slots going into Autumn content.
- Extract on current Lewiston and Pottsville so permutations have a baseline.
- Rebuild sensitivity after 1.0.4.0; do not wait for deadzones to “fix” a leftover cap of 2.
- Keep one loadout slot free in your head for a laser or muzzle once they exist — do not sell every Credit this weekend if you want shop flexibility.
- Watch official nmrih2.com and Steam news; ignore unofficial Trello clones.
October is a different post
October is described as extra in-run items and choices without drowning new players. No item names yet. Do not merge October rumors into your September bingo card.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for Responders preparing for the next deployment.
Is the September 2026 update live?
No. As of late August 2026 the live patch is Hotfix 1.0.4.0. September is the next named content window from the Beyond Armageddon blog.
What maps change in September?
Lewiston gains extra objective permutations. Pottsville gets a new scenario flow. No new Survival arenas were announced for that window.
Will new attachments change the weapons tier list?
Likely. Muzzle mods and lasers are framed as gameplay, not cosmetics. Recheck Weapons Tier List after official stats.
Is Hell Mode part of September?
No. Hell Mode is a hoped-for 2026 endgame beyond Nightmare, not a September deliverable.
Where should I read the full roadmap?
Beyond Armageddon for systems; this page for the September checklist; Updates Hub after the numbered client ships.
